DAW tutor needed

I need help selecting an appropriate computer recording program and also instructions on how to operate it. I have a Tascam Model 16. My preference is to use the Tascam as a stand alone recorder and then connect to my computer via usb and mixdown into the DAW program.......preferably using the Tascam as the controlling/mixing device. Option B: If anyone knows of a simple stereo computer recorder program please advise me. Older computers I have had used to have "Sound Recorder" built into them. It used an analog input via the sound card. I can't find anything that simple on line. Thanks......Marc 9zero1 seven86 395zero
