Upcoming Cleveland Road Work That Could Impact Your Commute

CLEVELAND — As Northeast Ohio's weather teeter-totters between 50 degree highs and snowy, frigid 20 degree lows, road crews are still trying to finish their 2021 projects. The Ohio Department of Transportation released its upcoming plans for highway projects in the Cleveland area. Most of the work will focus on replacing bridges and preparing for longer-term construction. All work is weather-dependent, an increasingly fraught term as the season becomes more prone to fits of snow. Live in Cleveland? Here are the Ohio Department of Transportation's upcoming traffic projects to be aware of: E. 7th Street over the Norfolk Southern/GCRTA railroads bridge replacementStarting Monday, E. 75th Street will be closed over the railroad. It will remain closed through October 2022 as crews replace the bridge. Drivers will be detoured along Woodland Avenue to E. 79th to Holton Avenue. The full project should be completed in May 2023, ODOT estimates. Scranton Road bridge deck replacementCrews will be replacing the bridge deck on Scranton Road, over I-90 in Cleveland. Lane restrictions and short duration closures will continue through Dec. 18. I-71, I-90 and I-490 under Scranton Road will have various lane restrictions during off-peak hours. There will also be short duration closures, lasting no longer than 15 minutes, between 12 a.m. and 5 a.m. The full project will be completed in June 2022.
