Here are the top stories in Concord today: On Friday, Michigan landed a 4-star defensive back from Concord for the Class of 2022. Safety Zeke Berry pledged his commitment to the Wolverines, announcing on Twitter. "I wanted to be developed by coaches that have experience putting players in the NFL and it's also a top 10 academic school in the country," Berry said to 247Sports. (Saturday Tradition) On Thursday, Walnut Creek Police arrested a man suspected of starting a series of small fires at a variety of city locations. 27-year-old Oscar Aguilar-Campos was detained, arrested and booked into the Martinez Detention Facility. WCPD located a witness who was able to give officers a description of the suspect. Patrol and plain clothes officers searching the area found Aguilar-Campos walking downtown. If anyone has any information about any of these fires, please contact the Walnut Creek Police Department at 925-943-5844. (Claycord.com)After being served with recall papers on Tuesday for abusing her position to benefit political ally, Antioch Mayor Lamar Thorpe, City Clerk Ellie Householder approved the petition for his recall in a letter to organizer Kathy Cabrera. It was the 10th day since the fourth version of the petition was submitted, which is the legal limit. That allows signature gathering to begin. Organizers now have 160 days to collect 9,511 signatures of registered Antioch voters. (Contra Costa Herald)Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2021 State Assemblyman Jim Frazier (D-11) announced he will be resigning from his position at the end of the month. He tweeted, "It has been a joy and a privilege to represent District 11. I extend my sincerest appreciation to each of you. Thank you all." When reached for comment Frazier said, "it's time to move on and I have a strong urge to get back into the transportation sector, pursue my passion, and help people achieve their goals in transportation." (Contra Costa Herald)The toll to travel over seven of the Bay Area's bridges will increase by $1 on Jan. 1, 2022. Regular tolls for two-axle cars and trucks and for motorcycles at the San Francisco-Oakland Bay, Antioch, Benicia-Martinez, Carquinez, Dumbarton, Richmond-San Rafael and San Mateo-Hayward bridges will rise to $7 from $6, according to the Bay Area Toll Authority.
