Raleigh Arts is excited to announce the artists who have been selected to create Artwork for the Bus Rapid Transit Stations along New Bern Avenue. Nine artists will design glass windscreens for the stations:
Leslie Bartlebaugh(link is external) Jane Cheek(link is external) Max Dowdle(link is external) Shawn Etheridge(link is external) Mayanthi Jayawardena(link is external) Georges Le Chevallier(link is external) Alberto Ortega(link is external) Kiara Sanders(link is external) Wendy Spitzer(link is external) Artist David Wilson(link is external) will create railings for the stations, and poet Johnny Lee Chapman III(link is external) (image above taken by Sarah Demuth) will create embedded poetry and artwork within the concrete of the stations along the corridor.
All eleven artists are currently working with local historians and the community to gather inspiration and will be working on concept designs that they will begin sharing with the community this Spring.
