City of Portland, Maine MAINTENANCE WORKER II–STREETS & SIDEWALKS Public Works Department – Search Extended - Up to $2,500 Sign On Bonus Available Successful applicant will be subject to winter shift assignment which is Monday thru Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. or Friday, Saturday, Sunday from 5 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. during the winter period then will work off-winter season schedule consisting of five 8-hour days or four 10-hour days. Requirements: Thorough knowledge of the functions and operating methods of a wide variety of construction equipment; ability to operate equipment efficiently and safely; ability to make minor repairs; good visual acuity for driving and physical strength, agility and stamina necessary to withstand exposure to adverse climatic conditions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, supervisors and members of the public; valid Maine Class B driver’s license (we are willing to provide schooling to attain CDL license and will cover the cost involved) ; must undergo a pre-employment medical exam and fitness assessment; must pass criminal conviction background check and pass federally mandated drug test with current CDL license or will be tested upon CDL permit attainment; must have and maintain a good driving record. Offers of employment are contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory criminal background check. Pay range starting at $811.20/week ($20.28/hour).
