Description

I’m looking to get something going again. I am a rhythm guitarist and vocalist. I have put in my 10,000 hours as an autodidact. I am not schooled but I can play. I have been playing mostly acoustic though I’d be into picking up my electric again. I’d love to find a small kit drummer and an upright bass player to make a tight little rhythm trio. I play mostly country, rock’n’roll, a little punk with a dash of rockabilly. I like to keep things minimalist but tight. I try not to project hard and fast ideas onto a potential band because each individual musician is different. Different individual styles call for different approaches. What I see in my own style is something like a 50’s era 3 piece sorta rockabilly band that isn’t limited to just the rockabilly style. More like taking the rockabilly template as a band but expanding on the music beyond trying to imitate that sound of those artists. I’d love to meet like minded musicians to form a band. But I’d also be interested in simply hiring a bassist and drummer (vocals are a huge plus) as a professional unit to learn a 15 - 20 song set list in order to be available for booked gigs. I have all the songs recorded to click available as practice tracks for musicians to learn or write their own parts. Cutting down on the need to spend hours upon hours rehearsing the set in person. I practice to these tracks as well without too much deviation or improvisation. Though if we gel as a unit I’m fully open to expanding out into improvisation. In order to move the process along the recorded tracks make it easier to learn on ones own time. Listen to the recordings, learn the parts, get together as needed to rehearse as a unit. That’s the ideal. We are all busy with limited free time. Here is a list of songs I’ve been playing competently that could make a decent little set list to work toward playing. These songs are all over the place. Mostly underground rock and mainstream country. Though I filter them all through a Country and Western style. Since She Started To Ride - Jonathon Richman Give Me Your Loving - Mazzy Star Friend of the Devil - Grateful Dead Today Your Love Tomorrow the World - Ramones I Love This Bar - Toby Keith Tell Me - Galaxie 500 Troubadour - George Strait Indian Summer - Beat Happening Marie’s the Name (Her Latest Flame) - Elvis Play With Fire - Rolling Stones Massachusetts - Bee Gees Come a Little Closer - Dierks Bentley The Gunner’s Dream - Pink Floyd Lonesome Town - Ricky Nelson Cool Water - Hank Williams She Wouldn’t Be Gone - Blake Shelton Somethin’ Else - Eddie Cochran Torn and Frayed - Rolling Stones West Palm Beach - Will Oldham Pale Blue Eyes - Velvet Underground The Boxer - Simon and Garfunkel Another Time - Pearls Before Swine And a half dozen originals that could potentially be worth working into the set. Sorry for the blog post. Good luck out there getting your various projects off the ground. It is very difficult.
