COMPANY DESCRIPTION Co-founded in 2013 by farmer friends sharing a deep reverence for good food and good living, River Run Farm raises Certified Organic produce along the Dungeness River near Sequim, WA on the Olympic Peninsula. As we begin our 2022 season, we continue to look to nature for inspiration in the development of our farming practices. We grow mixed vegetables on about 30 acres. We retail produce direct to our customers at farmers markets, our ~350 person CSA, and wholesale to regional grocers. Our farm is split into two sectors: Direct Market and Wholesale. These job positions are in the Direct Market sector of the farm. @riverrunfarm_sequim www.riverrun.farm Farm Schedule: Monday-Thursday 10 hour days, projects on Friday in late September-November as necessary, Saturday-Sunday local and Seattle Farmers Markets. Season: May - November, winter work possible HARVEST TEAM MEMBER (FULL TIME): May 1 - November 20 (flexible start) Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday, 10 hr days / 40hrs weekly Compensation: $14.50/hr plus access to delicious organic vegetables Monday and Tuesday: harvest, wash, and CSA box pack. Wednesday: CSA box pack, plant care, weeding, transplanting, general maintenance, and independent projects. Thursday: harvest, wash, and pack for Seattle and local farmers markets. As we lose daylight in mid-September, and start to bring in storage crops, we will likely switch to Mon-Fri 8 hr days/40 weekly. This is a seasonal job, with more hours in the heart of the summer and generally less hours during the shoulder season. Harvest Team members will participate in most aspects of field scale vegetable production: -Harvest produce for CSA and farmer's markets including: kale, lettuce, beets, carrots, potatoes, cabbage, turnips, radishes, cut greens, cauliflower, and much, much more! - Wash, sort, and pack vegetables in a semi enclosed pack shed. - Plant care, hoeing, hand weeding/thinning, transplanting SKILLS NEEDED: An interest and ability to communicate clearly and comfortably Easy to get along with and positive attitude A familiarity with vegetables and an eye for subtle quality differences An ability to work diligently and maintain focus for through tedious tasks An ability to do physically demanding work and work long hours Thoughtfulness and an aptitude for listening, an ability to be sensitive to the needs of your teammates Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly Must be able to bend, crawl, and kneel for extended periods of time Must be tolerant to all weather conditions (including wind, cold, sun, and rain) Applicants should have a positive attitude towards hard work and readily display the ability to successfully engage with instruction and feedback. Our ideal candidate is a quick learner who has experience working in a fast-paced and labor intensive work environment. We work as a tight knit team and are looking for people who are ready to hustle with us! Experience is not required, but preference given to those with farming experience.
