Description
FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Valentino, an 8-year-old dog, is looking for a forever home. He is available for adoption now through the Fredericksburg SPCA.
Valentino has some special needs, the SPCA said. He is blind in his left eye and has a history of dermatitis.
"This 8-year-old boy came to us not knowing much comfort after being picked up in rural Virginia," the SPCA said. "He looked like he had quite the 'ruff' life with matted fur and undiagnosed eye problems. He was able to get care with our Locke Community Medical Center for his skin dermatitis due to flea bites and have his ears treated for infection."
Valentino was able to get the medical care he needed thanks to the SPCA. The SPCA determined that Valentino's head tilt, though adorable, is likely a result of his left eye blindness.
"Valentino doesn't really know what inside life is like, but he's learning to be safe and out of the elements," the SPCA said. "He would love to find a family or person to retire with! Preferably one who loves the outdoors and has a fenced yard for him to spend time in."
Valentino would probably do best in a home with only adults or older children, due to his special needs. He can be sensitive to his head being touched.
"We believe every dog deserves a chance at a happy ending, so if a soul-dog is what you're looking for, Valentino might be right for you," the SPCA said. Valentino is available for a Foster-To-Adopt trial period.
