HYATTSVILLE, MD — If you're driving on Route 301 in North Brentwood this holiday season, look up.
You might see the smiling face of Abi, a 4-year-old Maryland girl with a rare blood disorder.
Make-A-Wish and Macy's granted Abi's wish this year, which was to be a Macy's billboard model. Abi and her twin sister Vivi were part of a special photo shoot in New York City in September, according to a news release from Macy's.
On Wednesday, Macy's Mall at Prince George and Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic unveiled her billboard and then gave her and her family an in-store VIP experience, the store chain said. The girls and their family arrived in a limousine to see her billboard and then headed to the store to send their letters to Santa, and celebrate with employees and Make-A-Wish representatives.
Macy's has partnered with Make-A-Wish since 2003 to help grant wishes for kids fighting critical illnesses, the company said.
From Nov. 1 through Dec. 24, Macy's donates $1 for every letter sent to Santa online at http://Macys.com/believe or dropped off in Macy's stores to help make wishes like Abi's a reality (up to $1 million).
Abi's billboard is in the 4500 block of Route 301 in North Brentwood.
