First, today's weather: An a.m. shower; partly sunny. High: 77 Low: 64. Weekend forecast: The area will remain warm through Sunday, with a cold front pushing through Sunday night into Monday. Rain chances are low. Here are the top stories today in Austin: Austin City Council has approved a Comprehensive Civil Rights Ordinance that grants enforcement authority to the city's Office of Civil Rights, in order to further protect Austinites from discrimination and sexual harassment in the workplace. (Austin Patch) The Texas Department of Public Safety says it is continuing Saturday services at select offices for those needing to apply, renew, replace or upgrade their license this month. (FOX 7 Austin) The Austin Police Department is investigating break-ins at TxDOT facilities, which have caused some highway cameras to shut off. (KVUE.com) A federal appeals court has blocked a federal judge's ruling that allowed Texas school districts to impose mask mandates on students, staff and campus visitors. (Austin American-Statesman) The Texas electrical grid will have enough generation capacity available to meet the state's projected power needs this winter for a "typical" season, according to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas. (Austin Patch) A 39-year-old man who barricaded himself inside an Austin apartment complex on Thursday has forced the closure of E. 6th Street as police attempt to de-escalate the situation.
