Press release from Johnson City Public Library: Hannah Kiger admin 2021-12-01 Your Library is hosting a blood drive in partnership with Marsh Regional Blood Center on Friday, December 10 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Marsh Regional Blood Center will set up a bloodmobile in the Library's parking lot. Registration is encouraged but walk-ins are also welcome. Click here to sign up for a 15-minute time slot. Donors will receive a long sleeve t-shirt and snack after giving blood. Donating blood is more important than ever now. Due to the pandemic, blood collection centers have had less ability to reach out to their biggest donor groups. This has left blood supplies dangerously low across the country and in the Appalachian Highlands. Marsh Regional Blood Center has been serving Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia for the last 70 years. JCPL Teen Services Manager Amy Taylor explains, "The blood donated to Marsh stays in our community and helps our neighbors recover from surgery, accidents, and various illnesses." "The Library is a busy place and we can reach a lot of local folks," she says, "so when a community organization like Marsh is in need, we're thrilled to pool together our resources to help."
