Here are the top stories in Des Moines today: Des Moines police are trying to figure out who shot a man downtown. It happened in a parking area in the 2600 block of Ingersoll Avenue early Wednesday morning. Police say they got reports of multiple shots fired and found one gunshot victim upon arrival with non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators have not released any information about a suspect. (KCCI Des Moines) Record levels of COVID-19 were detected in metro-area sewage collected just before Thanksgiving, according to the Des Moines Metropolitan Wastewater Reclamation Authority. The organization's sample collection on Nov. 22 shows coronavirus concentration levels roughly 9 percent higher than the previous peak in September. Wastewater surveillance can be a leading indicator of COVID-19, since not everybody who has the virus gets tested, according to the CDC.
