SAN DIEGO, CA — A San Diego Central Jail inmate died from combined fentanyl and methamphetamine toxicity, according to the autopsy report from the San Diego County Medical Examiner's office released Wednesday.
The death of Saxon Fredrick Rodriguez was ruled to be an accident, said San Diego County Sheriff's Department Lt. Thomas Seiver.
Deputies found Rodriguez unconscious and unresponsive in his cell at about 10 a.m. on July 20, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.
Rodriguez, whose body showed no signs of suspicious injuries, was pronounced dead at the Front Street detention center, Seiver said.
The 22-year-old from Chula Vista was jailed five days before his death on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and indecent exposure.
