The training will overview the current state of cognitive therapies drawing from traditional understanding as well as new applications. Overview: This training will overview the current state of cognitive therapies. Drawing from traditional understandings as well as new applications, it will teach specific skills for socializing clients to the model, conceptualization cases, devising treatment plans, and implementing strategies to treat multiple symptom sets. Meet the Speaker: Jeff Riggenbach, PhD has devoted the past 25 years to developing expertise in cognitive therapy and personality functioning. He trained at The Beck Institute of Cognitive Therapy and Research to develop specialized treatment for personality disorders and spent 15 years running CBT/DBT/Schema Therapy - Based treatment programs in two different psychiatric hospitals and outpatient clinics. In addition to the personality disorder programming, he has developed and overseen CBT-based programs for treating mood disorders, anxiety disorders, substance use disorders, OCD. Jeff is an award winning author of three best-selling books, including The CBT Toolbox: A a Workbook for Clients & Clinicians, The BPD Toolbox: An Evidence-Based Guide for Regulating Emotions, and The Personality Disorder Toolbox: The Challenge of the Hidden Agenda. He is a diplomat with the academy of cognitive therapy, a certified cognitive therapist, and most importantly, has 20 years of clinical experience practicing CBT in individual and group settings. Dr. Riggenbach has presented in all 50 United States and is on faculty of educational institutes in the UK, Canada, Australia, & South Africa. His presentations routinely receive the highest conference evaluations in terms of quality content as well as entertainment value. Learning Objectives: 1. Acquire an understanding of broader meaning of “cognitive behavioral therapies” 2. Gain understanding the 8 motivations for self-injurious behavior and how to effectively intervene with each 10.
