PLEASANTON, CA -- In partnership with the Pleasanton Unified School District and the Pleasanton Police Department, the Pleasanton Police Officers' Association is hosting the inaugural "Shop with a Cop" event on December 18.
As part of the event, up to 20 sponsored kids will receive a one-day shopping spree with officers. The purpose of Shop with a Cop, the police union said in a statement, is to "create new and build upon our existing positive relationships we share with our community.
" We welcome this opportunity work with families in our community, especially to give back to those underprivileged families that have children who may not have the same opportunities as others in our community," the PPOA said in a statement. "Shop with a Cop is one of the ways we strive to strengthen our community and reach out to families in need."
For the event, uniformed officers, community service officers and employees will spend time with participants for hot chocolate, brunch and a shopping spree.
Businesses such as Walmart, Starbucks, Grocery Outlet, and Vic's All Star Kitchen Pleasanton are helping sponsor the 20 students, who'll be chosen from the different Pleasanton Unified School District elementary schools.
All donated money is strictly earmarked for the Shop with a Cop event. Anyone who would like to support the Shop with a Cop fund can make a donation at:https://www.gofundme.com/f/ple...
