For more than a decade Richards High School and all of District 218 set new records annually in Advanced Placement enrollment, national exams passed, and students honored as AP Scholars by The College Board. Years ago the administration and faculty consciously chose to encourage more students to embrace academic challenge and enroll in college-level and dual credit courses. They convinced students who might otherwise avoid AP -- some due to fear, others through lack of confidence -- to test their capabilities. While the encouragement happens all the time, the campaign peaks during AP Rush. This week AP Rush features a wide range of actions designed to give students a look at what these courses feature, and the vocal support of the teachers who lead them.
