LA GRANGE, IL — Recent data shows how Lyons Township High School compares to other area high schools. The information comes from the Illinois Report Card website, which is compiled by the State Board of Education. Statewide, the school rates high among schools, but in the western suburbs, it is competing against schools in similarly high-income neighborhoods. High schools in higher-income areas tend to do better than their lower-income counterparts. Of the seven surveyed high schools, Hinsdale Central has the lowest rate of low-income students, at 6 percent. Lyons Township High School's was 11 percent. Lyons Township High School ranked third among the seven surveyed schools in the percentage of students who met or exceeded standards on the English and language arts section of the SAT.
