JOLIET, IL — David Holroyd, a 20-year-old Joliet resident, was booked into the Will County Jail this week after Joliet police say he beat someone at their house as they watched television. The beating inflicted by Holroyd left the victim hospitalized, according to Joliet police. The attack happened Nov. 7, and on Tuesday night, Joliet police arrested Holroyd during a traffic stop. According to Joliet police, officers went to St. Joe's hospital around 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 7 after learning that a beating victim was being treated in the emergency room. The attack happened inside a house in the 900 block of Summit Street, police learned. "Holroyd had forcefully entered the residence without permission and began punching the victim multiple times while the victim was watching television with others," Joliet police announced. "It was determined that Holroyd was known to the victim and that this was a targeted attack." Police went to Holroyd's house in the 900 block of Elizabeth Street to interview him, but he was not there. The victim was treated and released from the hospital. Then, around 11 p.m. Tuesday, traffic patrol officers pulled over Holroyd's car for speeding near Black Road and Brentwood Drive, police reports show. Officers discovered Holroyd had a warrant for his arrest, and he was placed into custody, police said. Holroyd's bail was set at $25,000, and he was set free around 1 a.m. Thursday, after posting 10 percent, jail logs show.
