ELMHURST, IL — In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving an argumentative volunteer, a belligerent customer, the theft of an unlocked car, a mystery wallet, retail theft and car burglaries. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports: Argumentative volunteer A volunteer at YMCA, 211 W. First Ave., has been causing problems and arguing with employees. The volunteer was served with a no-trespass notice Tuesday. He was told that if he returned, he would be arrested. Belligerent customer On Tuesday, a man went to Ed Napleton Acura dealership, 745 W. Lake St., with a friend to work out a deal to buy out his leased car. The man became argumentative and belligerent over the deal being offered. On Wednesday, the suspect called the dealership multiple times and was belligerent toward employees. An officer called the suspect and asked him to cease all contact with the dealership. Unlocked car stolen An unlocked Chrysler 300M was stolen about 3 a.m. Wednesday from a driveway in the 300 block of Cottage Hill Avenue. Mystery wallet A resident in the 200 block of Grace Avenue found a black wallet in her front lawn Wednesday. The owner of the wallet told police the wallet was inside her car, a black 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee with Ohio plates, when it was stolen in Chicago. An investigation is pending. Retail theft Two men entered Rede Lounge, 104 W. Second St., and stole numerous purses and jewelry at 5 p.m. Wednesday. The first suspect was described as black, 40 years old, 6 feet, and wearing a dark face mask and a dark blue wool winter jacket. The second suspect was described as black, 40 years old, having short braids and wearing a dark face mask. Car burglaries While investigating a neighbor's vehicle burglary, in which nothing was stolen, an officer learned that another person's unlocked car was burglarized. The car was rummaged through, and a cellphone cord was missing. It happened about 3 a.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of Grace Avenue. Fraudulent purchase A resident in the 9000 block of Bryan Street told police Wednesday that someone used his banking information to make a fraudulent purchase. The resident contacted the vendor and canceled the transaction. Fugitive driver An officer saw a vehicle that did not have a rear license plate and tried to stop it about 1 a.m. Thursday at York and Interstate 290. The driver fled west on I-290. The vehicle was a Dodge Charger.
