Press release from Batavia Public School District 101: December 1, 2021 November 17, 2021 (Archivo de mensajes en español) Hello BPS101 Families- We would like to start this week's message with a THANK YOU to the community members that serve on the BPS101 Board of Education. Each year, November marks the official statewide observance of School Board Members Month in Illinois. Today, we would like to take this opportunity to show support for the board of education and the individual school board members who are committed to providing a local voice to educational decisions. It is a time to acknowledge the board's role in creating educational opportunities that meet the goals set forth by the community for their student population. These goals are measured by providing a pathway to a successful future for every student. Batavia School District 101 is proudly governed by an elected board of seven residents dedicated to serving the students and the community.  To learn more about our Board of Education, please visit https://www.bps101.net/board/board-members/. As we approach the winter season, when there are shorter days, chilly temps, and less opportunity to bike to the park or walk to a friend's house, the need to connect with classmates can be more significant for our students. We encourage all households to look into school-based clubs and activities as a way to help students engage with their peers. Many clubs and activities are currently meeting and practicing. Find out more about RMS clubs and activities HERE and BHS clubs and activities HERE. Information on elementary school clubs and activities can be found in their weekly newsletters. BHS hosted over 300 students from Batavia to DeKalb for an Education Career Pathways event this week. Imagine having the opportunity to sit down with people that work in your field of interest to ask questions about the "best things" and a "typical day".  Our College and Career Counselor, Paige Buttels, has done a phenomenal job creating opportunities for students to learn about different career paths from industry professionals in our community. In the previous week, Paige escorted a bus full of students to the Painters District Council in Aurora for an internship expo. Students learned about several trades from area companies.   RMS Bike Rack Look what Rotolo Middle School received today. A super cool bike rack! Thanks to a Making Kane Fit For Kids grant, the Batavia Bicycle Commission partnered with Barco Products in Batavia to install this new two-tiered bike rack system! We LOVE our community!
