HUNTERSVILLE, NC — Huntersville is ready to welcome Christmas with open arms this weekend with a series of events on Friday and Saturday. Friday The festivities begin on Friday at 201 Huntersville-Concord Road, or Veterans Park. From 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. enjoy the town tree lighting presented by Pridemore Properties. There will be vendors on site, local food and drinks galore. Lost Cajun, The Butcher Grill, Woodmill Treats, State Fair Mini Donuts, Buzzed Viking Brewery, and Ass Clown Brewing will be on site. Saturday The fun keeps going on Saturday Dec. 4. From 2:00 - 8:00 p.m., experience Christmas in Huntersville. Free activities include children's rides, artisan ice Sculptures, holiday performances on stage from local groups, carolers of Christmas past, airbrush tattoos, balloon twisters, roaming holiday characters, letters & pictures with Santa and more. Food will be available for purchase from The Lost Cajun, Ole Buddy's Oinker Express, Sons of the American Legion Squadron 321, Woodmill Treats, and State Fair Mini Donuts. Parking will be available at Town Center Parking Garage (105 Gilead Road), Huntersville Elementary (200 Gilead Road), Downtown Greenway Trailhead (102 Gilead Road), and Town Hall (101 Huntersville-Concord Road). Road Closures Huntersville will temporarily close the following roads during the festivities on Friday, December 3 from 4 – 10 p.m. and Saturday, December 4 from 11:30 a.m. - 9:30 p.m. • Maxwell Avenue from Old Statesville Road (NC 115) to Huntersville-Concord Road• Main Street between Bigham Street and Huntersville-Concord Road The city asks people not attending the events to avoid the downtown area. Police will be present at key locations to reduce motorist confusion. Traffic on Maxwell Avenue & Main Street should use Old Statesville Road (NC115) as a detour.
