HUDSON VALLEY, NY — 'Tis the season for giving back to your community. There are a number of ways that you and your family can help out through the holidays and help others. Every day through Christmas, Patch will be highlighting a way you can provide compassion and resources to those in need. Volunteer New York! makes it easy to find ways to help — through donations, supporting nonprofits and even volunteering from home. Today's opportunity is for Family Services of Westchester. For the 2021 holidays, the organization is asking people to "adopt" a family. The annual Adopt a Family gift drive makes the holidays brighter for Westchester families who are unable to buy essentials and gifts this holiday season. Volunteers purchase items on the wish list, and the gifts are then personally delivered by program staff. Organizers said this is a great project for families, school classes, employee teams, religious groups and more. For more information, or to express interest, go here.
