UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Four people were injured early Thursday morning, including one firefighter, after a barge caught fire on West 59th Street in the Hudson River, the FDNY told Patch. The flames started around 2:25 a.m., and firefighters battled the blaze for nearly 2 hours before it was put under control, FDNY said. Three civilians and one firefighter were injured in the blaze — all of the injuries were minor — and at least three of the people were taken to Roosevelt Hospital for care, FDNY said. The Upper West Side barge is located along the NYC Sanitation Pier 99 at 901 12th Avenue. Videos of the early morning fire were posted to the Citizen App — you can watch them here. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
