Press release from the City of Albany: November 29, 2021 Catalytic Converter Arrests Made On Saturday November 27, 2021 at approximately 12:13 pm, Albany Police Officers were dispatched to the area of Marin Ave and Stannage Ave on a report of a possible auto burglary. Witnesses to the crime advised police dispatch of the suspects actions and direction of travel as the suspects drove away from the area. Albany Officers were able to locate and stop the suspects a short distance away in the City of Berkeley. During the investigation it was determined the suspects had stolen a catalytic converter from a vehicle parked on Marin Ave. The stolen catalytic converter was recovered from the suspect's vehicle, along with tools used to steal catalytic converters and drug paraphernalia. Two suspects, a 42-year-old male from Vallejo and a 40-year-old male from Benicia were arrested for 487(a) PC- Grand Theft and transported to Santa Rita Jail. The Albany Police Department thanks the witnesses for their help in this matter.
