Experienced Lead Vocalist/Guitarist Looking For a Jamband

Description

TL;DR Solid lead vocalist that’s a decent guitar player and has lots of experience in bands wants to play some jamband stuff in the valley. Apologies for the ensuing stream of consciousness. I would really love to start or join a band with some like minded folks. In my idealized vision, I’d love to meet people that are into bands like Phish, Moe, Dispatch, Wilco, Umphrey’s, Goose, Disco Biscuits, Spafford, Dopapod, String Cheese, STS9, Twiddle, The Grateful Dead, etc. Hopefully that’s enough keywords if you’re looking for the same sort of thing. I’ve been playing in original jam bands off and on for 20+ years in the Chicago area. I’ve always been the lead vocalist and have done both rhythm and lead guitar. (and even a little bass) I’ve got a high tenor range and did classical vocal stuff all the way through college. I’m a self taught guitarist with decent chops, a very good ear and a passable proficiency in theory. I know enough to hang with most players but don’t want to oversell that I’m a virtuoso or anything like that. I like to think I don’t suck and I’ve played with some of the best musicians in the midwestern jamband scene. Have experience doing multi state tours and mid sized festivals. I moved here right before the pandemic hit. Had a couple cool folks I was jamming with and then the whole world went crazy and we didn’t get together anymore. I’ve been working a super tough executive type job and haven’t really had time to do much of anything else during that time anyway. I just rolled over 42 rotations around the sun and have tendered my resignation to said day gig, effective January. I won’t be doing another job like that in this lifetime, so I plan on having a little bit of time to dedicate to doing some art. I’ve got a family, no drama in my life and have made a good living. If anything, I’m responsible enough to show up places when I say I’m going to. I like having a few beers, am cool around other such things, as long as they’re not “habit forming”. I’m not looking to drop everything in my life to go on another tour but am all about at least a weekly rehearsal and doing a couple gigs a month. I’m not in it for the money, but if the bar tabs get paid, super cool. Really just want to close my eyes on a stage and spontaneously compose music with and for good people. I’ve got nice gear and am decent at working on guitars. I can do sound, though I actively try to avoid it when possible. Happy being a front man, side man, soloing, comping, stewing. I’m more into catching a groove than doing the “ok, you solo here, and then I’ll solo here, and then she’ll solo here” thing. Can do high harmonies. I love upstrokes and properly rhythmic guitar. Played some punk and third wave ska stuff as a kid, so I’m not afraid of the lead channel when appropriate. So yeah, if you’re still here, hit me up. Love to talk about music/shows/gear and see if we vibe. If you’ve got an act that’s looking for someone, shoot me a couple songs to learn and I’d love to sit in. Thanks so much for looking!
