I am a 60yr old drummer. Numbers always sound terrible to me. I have been playing drums for a very long time with countless gigs behind me. I am looking to put a band together for local gigging and just plain good times. I am not interested in another job playing all the time. I am happy with 1 gig a month, maybe 2 here and there. I have been in a house band and playing every weekend of the month. That is work and quickly takes away the fun of making music. I have booked many gigs through the years and have a full PA with plenty enough power even for outdoor gigs which I have also done several. I have a fairly large kit and use all of it. Some ask me why I need so much. Well, Take a couple strings off of your guitar and see if you can recreate all the songs you want to play by all the different artist with 4 strings. Some songs require a couple drums, some more, some higher tone and some lower. I am not Neil Peart and I am not John Bonham, I am simply me. I like classic rock, rock, alternative rock, blues and some others. I believe in a full band sound meaning, if the drums are not through the main PA mix as all other instruments you have the sound of FM stereo with AM transistor radio drums. That is not to say the drums should stand out and loud at all. ALL at the same volume and tone to compliment each other. A band is a collaboration of music and actually business and should be shared 100%. I like anything from Zeppelin to Pearl Jam, CCR, Incubus, STP, Green Day clear back to Steppenwolf and all of the classics plus so many more. I do my best to recreate and add to the sound of each.
