05 Subaru Forester XT

Hello, I have a 2005 Subaru Forester XT that's not quite running how it should be. The check engine light isn't on so it's hard to detect what the issue is but I am looking for someone with knowledge on subaru xt engines to help get my car running how it should be. The car is running lean and I have taken it to several mechanics just for them to tell me nothing is wrong with it (because of no check engine light). Any help or guidance is greatly appreciated. Thank you
