A 1995 graduate of Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center, Mr. Barefield began his professional career as an Assistant District Attorney in Orleans Parish (1995-98). From 1998-2005, he served as Deputy Disciplinary Counsel with the Office of Disciplinary Counsel and was responsible for investigating and prosecuting violations of the Louisiana Rules of Professional Conduct. He joined the LSBA staff in 2005, working first with the Practice Assistance Program’s alternatives to discipline. Barefield coordinated the launch of the LSBA’s Law Office Management Assistance Program and the Solo and Small Firm Conference before accepting his current position focusing on the Ethics Advisory Service. Donald G. Cassels, III is an experienced trial and appellate attorney at Wilson Elser, representing a broad range of corporate and individual clients in all phases of litigation in state and federal courts. His litigation practice is focused primarily on insurance defense and admiralty and maritime matters. An experienced appellate litigator, Mr. Cassels has handled a broad range of appellate cases in state and federal appellate courts, as well as the Supreme Court of the United States. He also clerked for a Louisiana appellate court. Elise Lee focuses her practice at Wilson Elser, in the areas of insurance coverage matters, appellate practice and defending general liability matters. She has extensive experience representing clients in civil and criminal matters, and represents businesses and individuals during all aspects of litigation in several courts throughout Louisiana. Ms. Lee has significant courtroom experience, pre-trial and trial, and has conducted extensive written and oral motion practice. Adrienne Wheeler is the Executive Director of Louisiana Appleseed. Louisiana Appleseed is a nonprofit dedicated to solving our state’s toughest problems at their root cause by advocating for Access to Justice, Opportunity, and Education with the strength of their pro bono network. Ms. Wheeler graduated from Loyola Law and serves as the Chair of the Louisiana Supreme Court’s Access to Justice Building Bridges Subcommittee. Not the location you would like to attend?
