Encountering your marriage as an echo of life in the Garden of Eden and a foretaste of the New Jerusalem.
God filled His Word with images of God dwelling with His people in a temple nestled within a beautiful garden sitting atop a rock with rivers of life-giving water and the tree of life. These images of God dwelling with His people are intertwined with the reality that marriage between a man and his wife is a symbolic picture of God’s relationship with His people through Christ.
Therefore, it is good and right for God’s people to understand marriage as an opportunity to live in a divinely appointed institution in which marriage itself and the household it builds serves as both an echo of life in the Garden of Eden and as a foretaste of the New Jerusalem where God’s people, as the bride of Christ, will dwell in perfect harmony with their bridegroom and one another as they righteously worship God for all eternity.
