Their motto is simple: “If we can, we will.” Regardless of the animals condition, without regard to age, breed, gender, or ease of placement, Wagmor Pets is devoted to helping solve the issue of homelessness, placing these dogs in safe, healthy and permanent, loving homes. Melissa Bacelar, owner of Wagmor Pets bio: Melissa Bacelar is the founder of Wagmor Pets, a non-profit 501c3 organization that rescues and helps to find forever homes for dogs. She is also the owner of The Wagmor, a luxury pet hotel & spa in Valley Village, CA. Growing up in New Jersey, Bacelar found ways to help any animal in need. From a displaced goat, to a litter of unwanted puppies, Melissa was always bringing animals home. When she finally moved to California in 2003, the real rescue efforts began. Bacelar started volunteering at various adoption events and shelters, and was continually taking in fosters and strays. She also began working with her gift of communicating with pets. In years past, she has been seen on Anderson Live, E!, The Hallmark Channel, among many other nationally-coveted broadcast television programs. In 2015, Bacelar became pregnant with her second son and suddenly realized that she couldn’t continue to foster any more strays. That said, she knew she had to come up with a better solution to house the dogs that she wanted to rescue. By fate, Bacelar abruptly stumbled across an abandoned dog hotel and signed a lease without any hesitation. That decision marked the birth of The Wagmor. 6 years later, the business has continued to flourish and ultimately lead to the establishment of Wagmor Pets. Bacelar established Wagmor Pets in the midst of a pandemic in early 2020, and knew that in the wake of COVID-19, she needed to raise the bar, and that she just did. Impressively, Wagmor Pets rescued over 4,000 dogs in just 18 months. The non-profit has been supported by many, including some of Hollywood’s elite: Jennifer Anniston, Ellen DeGeneres, Miley Cyrus, Kris Jenner and Sandra Bullock, just to name a few. The organization has many services to offer, including: volunteer opportunities, adoptions, fostering, transportation, as well as fundraising. They are currently working on expanding their menu to services to include a spay and neuter program, and will also be finding clinics for stray dogs and low income families in the near-future. Equally as important, Wagmor Pets has several partnerships to save homeless dogs, in both Thailand and China as well. All adoptions are available on the @WagmorPets Instagram page.
