Brendan Abernathy ALL AGES Brendan Abernathy Brendan Abernathy at Eddie's Attic in Decatur, GA! Brendan Abernathy Lyrical singer-songwriter and energetic performing artist Brendan Abernathy is known for his contemplative, relatable lyrics, memorable melodies, and a captivating stage presence you can literally feel. Creating a fresh but familiar sound combining influences of Maggie Rogers with Ben Rector, John Mayer, and Ed Sheeran, Brendan gives a voice to a generation of buried and uncelebrated dreamers. Since graduating undergrad in May 2019, Brendan has lived out of his car, touring the US playing intimate house shows and selling out concerts in his home base, Athens, Georgia. He has generated over 1 million streams and played over 120 live shows, focusing on the individual and building friendships with his fans – “We all just want to be seen and loved, and I try to do that -- see and love.” Brendan’s first EP, Hope You Have, tells the story of his decision to leave “the rat race” in favor of pursuing a career in music. Moving through pressures and expectations, the EP leaves off with the idea that he has a “long, long way to go” to find identity and escape his self proclaimed “success addiction.” Brendan’s second EP, Leo, released in December 2020, chronicling his post-grad struggles with loneliness and comparison. The EP’s lead single, You Are Loved, drew praise from American Songwriter’s Rey Roldan, calling Brendan’s work “infectious” and his demeanor like that of a “friend who puts that hand on your shoulder or gives you a hug when you need it.” In 2020, Brendan set out to define his artistic voice. After 60 cancelled shows in March and three months of staying home, Brendan performed 67 joyous and socially-distanced yard shows across the US. Roldan summed up these nights perfectly: “Abernathy’s shows are not only a cathartic return to live performance, but offer his audiences a feeling of community.” Brendan’s tireless work ethic, endless touring, and radiating kindness has resulted in performances with Josie Dunne and the Band Camino, as well as working with Grammy-winning mastering engineer, Emily Lazar. 2021 promises to bring more shows, more impact, and the release of music written through 2020 focusing on singleness, anxiety, and finding hope amidst it all.
