A party to kick off a year-long fundraising campaign culminating in a cross-Atlantic rowing challenge - Meet the Dreamboats! The Dreamboats, a Charleston based rowing team established by Basic Projects Founder Ben Towill and Basic Kitchen Chef Charlie Layton, are taking on the Talisker Whiskey Atlantic Challenge in December 2022. The rowers will cross the Atlantic Ocean , 3,000 miles unassisted in a small 25-foot ocean rowing vessel starting in the Spanish island of La Gomera and ending in the Carribean island of Antigua . The pair will eat, sleep, and row for 2 hours on and 2 hours off, from anywhere between 40-80 days at sea. The Talisker Whiskey Atlantic Challenge is widely considered - the world's toughest row. And not only is the team taking on a lifelong dream, but they also taking on the challenge of rowing to raise funds and awareness for the Green Heart Project and the 2041 Foundation, promoting environmental stewardship and education on our food systems. Additionally, with the help of their title sponsor, Modern Minds, the duo hopes to increase awareness around mental health needs in the Charleston community and beyond. Come and celebrate with the team as they officially kick off their campaign year training for this incredible journey. Light bites and drinks will be served from 6-8 pm, along with a presentation video and an inspirational talk from polar explorer and founder of 2041, Robert Swan, the first person to walk to both North and South poles. The party is free to the public, but donations are appreciated to help the Dreamboats reach the starting line in 2022. See you there!
