CAPE CORAL, FL — A Cape Coral man faces charges after emailing threats to shoot law enforcement officers, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement said in a news release. David Lee Biasotti, 50, has been charged with one count of a written threat to kill and a written threat to conduct a mass shooting or an act of terrorism. FDLE agents, working with the Cape Coral Police Department, began their investigation Monday, when they learned about multiple threatening emails being sent to several sheriff's offices and police departments. Biasotti was identified as the sender of the emails. When authorities went to Biasotti's home, he demanded officers start making arrests because he believed the Catholic Church was committing fraud, FDLE said. He also said he would be forced to take matters "into his own hands" by making citizen's arrests or putting "bounties" out for the arrests of law enforcement, according to the news release. Biasotti was arrested Tuesday and is being held in Lee County Jail on a $40,000 bond.
