The University of Florida Summer Media Institute (SMI) is a five-night, six-day program for high school students at the College of Journal The University of Florida Summer Media Institute (SMI) is a five-night, six-day program for high school students at the College of Journalism and Communications in Gainesville, Florida. Students with a passion and talent for storytelling take part in an assortment of electives and specializations as they learn from our award-winning UF instructors and industry stalwarts. Take advantage of these hands-on opportunities in a state-of-the-art facility and begin preparing for your career at one of the nation’s largest and most comprehensive journalism and communications programs. Pricing Information is $850 for those who register before March 1, 2021. The price goes up to $950 until registration closes at 11:59 p.m. on April 30, 2021. This fee covers all lodging, meals and programming. Please note that registered participants are financially responsible for their own travel expenses to and from Gainesville, Florida.
