NORWALK, CT — A Bridgeport man accused of robbing a bank in Norwalk in September was arrested Monday, according to police. In a news release, Police Sgt. Sofia Gulino said Eliezer Negron of Bridgeport was charged with first-degree robbery and is being held on a $750,000 bond. According to Gulino, the robbery was reported the afternoon of Sept. 21 at a Fairfield County Bank on New Canaan Avenue. Around 1:30 p.m., a man wearing a hard hat, sunglasses and a mask resembling a tiger's mouthpassed a teller at the bank a note stating he was armed and demanding cash. The man did not display a weapon but manipulated his backpack to look as if he was armed, Gulino said. He then took the money from tellers and left in a white Hyundai with no license plates. Norwalk police detectives utilized various techniques and, with persistence, identified Negron as the suspect, Gulino said. Officers obtained a warrant and arrested Negron after meeting with him at the State of Connecticut Probation Department in Bridgeport and transporting him to the Norwalk Police Department, Gulino said.
