Description

NAUGATUCK, CT — A social media post that claimed that three kittens had been left in a dumpster in Naugatuck has resulted in Naugatuck Animal Control opening an investigation, but so far not finding the animals. The post last week on Facebook said the kittens were left at a housing complex across the street from Naugatuck Police Headquarters on Spring Street "by someone with an older green Subaru Legacy wagon 2000-2004." In its own Facebook post, Naugatuck Animal Control said members went to the site, but has "not and did not receive a formal complaint" about the incident, but the kittens were not found. "That being said - we have taken steps in attempts to verify the facebook story, the vehicle in question and the animals involved," officials said, adding that they also have interviewed several residents about the claim. Anyone with any information about the kittens is urged to contact [email protected]. "We also would like to encourage people that make posts regarding a crime and/or cruelty - to contact '911' while the incident is happening and/or just concluded," officials said. "Thank you for caring."
