ARLINGTON, VA — A woman was struck and killed early Saturday morning on the George Washington Memorial Parkway in Arlington County, according to a spokeswoman with the U.S. Park Police.
Park Police officers and Arlington County Fire & Rescue units responded around 2:58 a.m., for the report of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle on the parkway south of the Key Bridge.
Rescue units found an unresponsive 58-year-old woman lying in the roadway. She was pronounced dead on the scene.
The man who was driving the vehicle that struck the woman remained on the scene and was fully cooperating with the USPP's investigation.
Police have not released the identity of the decedent. No other injuries were reported.
