Here are the top stories today in Burlington: With the uptick in COVID hospitalizations, the UVM Health Network will be adding ICU and COVID-19 beds to their facilities. The UVM Medical Center will be getting five ICU beds and 10 COVID beds, while the Central Vermont Medical Center will be getting three beds. The Health Network says more space and staff within their hospitals will be devoted specifically to patients in need of intensive care, and will also be reducing the number of non-urgent surgeries through the end of the year. (WCAX)Time is running out for a host of charter change reforms pushed by progressives on the Burlington City Council this year. The deadline for the council to weigh in on proposed "Town Meeting Day" issues comes Dec. 15th, giving them one more regular meeting to act. Issues to discuss include shifting police oversight from the police chief, giving non-citizens the right to vote in local elections, and decriminalizing sex work.
