Skier Who Died In Collision At Eldora Resort Identified

BOULDER COUNTY, CO — A 72-year-old skier who died Tuesday in a collision has been identified as Ronald LeMaster, according to officials. He and a snowboarder collided at Eldora Mountain Ski Resort, the Boulder County Sheriff's Office said. The collision occurred just before 11 a.m. on the Windmill run, ski patrol said. LeMaster was unconscious and not breathing, and the patrol attempted CPR, officials said. A medical helicopter was placed on air standby. LeMaster was pronounced dead at 11:43 a.m., officials said. The snowboarder, a Wellington resident was interviewed at the scene by deputies and detectives with the Boulder County Sheriff's Office, following treatment for injuries that he had suffered from the collision. No criminal charges were filed, and the investigation is ongoing. LeMaster was an avid skier, photographer and instructor who wrote technical books such as Ultimate Skiing and The Skier's Edge.
