WATSONVILLE, CA — More than 2,400 Pacific Gas & Electric Co. customers were without power in South County Wednesday afternoon after a car crashed into a power pole, snarling traffic. The crash occurred at Main Street and Green Valley Road. The power pole was struck by farm equipment, police said. The outage was reported around 12:15 p.m. and PG&E said it immediately headed to the scene to de-energize affected power lines, said PG&E spokesperson Mayra Tostado in an email. Crews restored power to all but 80 customers as of 2:30 p.m. and worked to replace the broken power pole and downed power lines later that afternoon. Police said at 2:15 p.m. that they were unsure when power would be restored. This is a developing story. Check back or view the PG&E outage map for updates.
