CONCORD, NH — SolutionHealth, which runs hospitals in both Manchester and Nashua, has a new CEO. Bradley Kreick will be leading the organization beginning on Wednesday, according to the company. He replaces Sherry Hausmann who resigned earlier this year. SolutionHealth is the parent company of Elliot Health System in Manchester and Southern New Hampshire Health System in Nashua. Kreick, according to the company, is a native of the state, having ground up in southern New Hampshire. He has decades of experience in the health care field as well as in management roles for public and private companies. Kreick also coaches basketball for the Bishop Guertin High School girls team and serves on the board of trustees for Rivier University in Nashua. "I am honored to join the SolutionHealth organization," he said. "I look forward to working together with other leaders, board members, clinicians, staff and community members to enhance the success of our organization and deliver on our mission of caring for our communities with the best services and programs available." Kreick comes to the company at what he termed "an unsettling time," as health care workers continue to battle on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic. The company is also, he said, grappling with associated challenges. "Together, we can build on our strengths and develop a successful path forward," he added. Dianne Mercier, the chairwoman of the SolutionHealth Board of Trustees, said his appointment comes at a pivotal time. "His track record of visionary leadership combined with his deep community roots, business acumen and mission-driven orientation make him uniquely qualified to lead SolutionHealth successfully into the future," she said. Assisted Living Is Costly In NH A new study by Seniorly.com issued on Tuesday said that New Hampshire is the second most costly state for assisted living facilities. New Jersey is No. 1 while Alaska is No. 3. Massachusetts and the District of Columbia round out the Top 5. According to the study, it costs $5,644 a month to live in assisted living in the Granite State. The national average is $4,057 per month. The costs are based on "move-in data" across 40,000 senior communities in 2021. Read the full report linked here. Power Companies Prepare For Winter Storms It is that time of the year again and the state's largest electric utility wants its customers to know that it is preparing for winter storms. Eversource, according to Doug Foley, the president of New Hampshire operations, works year-round to maintain and upgrade electric lines and equipment to be ready for the worst. During the off-season, the company has also been installing thicker "tree wire" as well as stronger poles and smart fuses. "Typically, light, fluffy snow doesn't cause significant problems for the electric system," he said. "It's the heavy, wet snow, freezing rain or ice that can weigh down tree limbs and branches bringing them down onto our electric lines, causing power outages. We can't prevent storms from happening, but we know our customers depend on us to restore power as quickly and safely as possible when the power does go out and we take that responsibility seriously." Foley said it was also important for residents to have a "well-stocked storm kit" which includes first-aid supplies, tools, batteries and flashlights, a radio, any needed medications, water for more than one day, and nonperishable foods.
