Press release from Kendall County Sheriff's Office: 11/30/2021 9:00 AM FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Sheriff's Office Investigates Fatal Traffic Crash Sheriff's Office Investigates Fatal Traffic Crash ***UPDATE*** Kendall County, IL (November 30, 2021, 9:00 AM) On November 24th, 2021, the Kendall County State's Attorney's Office approved charges against Oscar Cano following additional investigation by Kendall County Sheriff's Office detectives. The investigation began on November 21st, 2021, following the traffic crash referenced in the original news release below. Cano was charged with the following: • Four counts of Aggravated Driving Under the Influence Causing Death (Class 2 felony) • Four counts of Aggravated Driving Under the Influence Causing Injury (Class 4 felony) A warrant for Cano's arrest was issued on November 24th, 2021, and he was taken into custody on November 29th, 2021. He was transported to Kendall County Corrections where he is currently being held on a $500,000/10% bond. The public is reminded that criminal defendants are presumed innocent until the government is able to prove its charges in court beyond a reasonable doubt. Kendall County, IL (November 23, 2021, 9:30 AM) The Kendall County Sheriff's Office is investigating a traffic crash that occurred at 6:32 PM on Sunday, November 21, 2021, near the intersection of Millington Rd and Millhurst Rd in Fox Township. The preliminary investigation indicates a vehicle, driven by Oscar Cano, a 34-year-old male from Oswego, IL, was traveling westbound on Millhurst Rd when it collided with a vehicle, driven by Robert Gray, a 38-year-old male from Somonauk, IL, traveling northbound on Millington Rd. Robert Gray was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash. As a result of the crash, Oscar Cano and a 34-year-old male passenger were both ejected from Cano's vehicle and transported to area hospitals with serious injuries. This investigation is being undertaken in conjunction with the Lasalle County Coroner's Office with assistance from the Illinois State Police and is still ongoing at this time.
