By Olivia Wynkoop, Bay City News Foundation PALO ALTO, CA — Police took a San Francisco man into custody on suspicion of a carjacking incident in Palo Alto on Friday evening, the Palo Alto Police Department announced on Tuesday. Police responded to reports of a woman screaming at a city parking lot on 375 Hamilton Avenue at 5:14 p.m. The victim said she parked her silver 2017 Honda Civic in the lot and walked to a nearby business with her husband. After realizing she left her car open, she said she walked back to find a man sitting in the driver's seat. She screamed, and the suspect demanded her car keys before forcibly taking them from her hand, according to police records. The suspect tried to start the car and failed. He got out of the vehicle after the victim's husband arrived to the parking area, said the police department. Police arrived shortly after and arrested 26-year-old Tito Cordero Vialau on suspicion of carjacking. Anyone with more information on the case is encouraged to contact the police department's 24-hour dispatch center at (650) 329-2413. Copyright © 2021 Bay City News, Inc. All rights reserved.
