ROMEOVILLE, IL — For the third consecutive year, the American Association for Men in Nursing (AAMN) has recognized Lewis University as one of the Best Schools for Men in Nursing, according to a release from the university.
The honor was bestowed upon Lewis University's College of Nursing and Health Sciences during the 46th Annual AAMN Conference in October.
The AAMN reviewers summarized, "Lewis University continues to demonstrate strong support for men in nursing. The LAMP mentorship program is a strong example of how nursing students can benefit from the experience of male alumni that serve as formal and informal mentors. The university has a strong strategic plan for recruiting and hiring male faculty that can provide input into course development and to serve as role models to male students. The local AAMN chapter has demonstrated the value of partnerships; there is a strong relationship and work with the local AAMN Chapter and the Student Nursing Association."
The Lewis University student group MEN (Men Entering Nursing) continues to be recognized by AAMN for their high school outreach events that encourage young men to consider the profession of nursing, the university said.
Lewis University's College of Nursing and Health Sciences encompasses the fields of nursing, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, and exercise and movement science.
