NAPERVILLE, IL — A 42-year-old Chicago man sustained life-threatening injuries and two other people were hurt after a crash involving a Freightliner truck and a Dodge Charger on Route 59 in Naperville Tuesday afternoon. Police and firefighters were called to Route 59 and Platinum Avenue just before 1:10 p.m. to respond to the crash. They say a preliminary investigation indicates the 2007 Dodge Charger driven by the 42-year-old man crossed the road's median and hit the Freightliner truck, which was driven by a 36-year-old Chicago man. The Dodge Charger's driver was taken to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries. The Freightliner's driver, along with a passenger from the Charger, were taken to local hospitals with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, Naperville police said in a news release Tuesday afternoon. As of 4 p.m., northbound Route 59 was still closed between North Aurora Road and Brookdale Road as investigators from Illinois State Police and the Naperville Police Department's traffic unit worked to reconstruct the crash. Investigators are urging anyone with information to call Naperville police's traffic division at (630) 305-5477.
