Press release from the City of Naperville: November 30, 2021 On Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2021 at approximately 1:08 p.m., the Naperville Police and Fire Departments responded to the area of IL Route 59 and Platinum Avenue for a vehicle crash involving a silver 2007 Dodge Charger driven by a 42-year-old male out of Chicago and a white 2015 Freightliner driven by a 36-year-old male out of Chicago. The preliminary investigation indicates the Dodge Charger was traveling southbound on Route 59, crossed over the median and collided with the Freightliner truck near Platinum Avenue. The driver of the Dodge Charger was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. A passenger in the Dodge Charger and the driver of the Freightliner were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Due to the nature of the incident, accident investigators and traffic crash reconstruction specialists from the Naperville Police Department Traffic Unit and the Illinois State Police responded to the scene. Northbound Route 59 was closed from North Aurora Road to Brookdale Road as a result of the crash and remains closed at this time. The crash investigation is ongoing.
