JOLIET, IL — A 50-year-old Joliet man remains incarcerated in the Will County Jail accused of committing his fourth driving under the influence of alcohol offense. The Will County State's Attorney's Office of Jim Glasgow has charged Peter Schryer with two counts of aggravated driving under the influence. Deputies at the Will County Sheriff's Office arrested Schryer during the early morning hours of Nov. 27. The criminal complaint states that the "defendant, while under the influence of alcohol, drove or was in actual physical control of a vehicle, a Buick ... on Washington Street in Wilmington." The second charge of aggravated DUI states that Schryer was driving the Buick "during a period in which the defendant's driving privileges were revoked or suspended, where the revocation or suspension." Prosecutors notified the Will County judges that Schryer's latest arrest marks his fourth violation of driving under the influence of alcohol. The prior crimes happened on March 31, 1991, in Will County, April 10, 1994, in Will County and Nov. 13, 2020 in Will County, his complaint noted. Schryer's bail was set at $50,000, and he remained incarcerated on Dec. 1, unable to post the necessary 10 percent to regain his freedom while awaiting trial. Schryer resides in the 100 block of Joliet's Greenway Street, jail logs show.
