ELMHURST, IL — With the pandemic, schools shifted to remote instruction in many instances. That led to some thinking that snow days would be no longer.
That's the case in many places, but not in Elmhurst School District 205.
In the district, when the weather takes a turn for the worst, students get the day off.
"This means that we will not shift to virtual/remote learning in the case of inclement weather for 2021-22," the district said in a public statement Tuesday.
The district said it had emergency weather days built into the school calendar. It said it notifies parents of snow days through email, text message and phone calls.
Other districts require students to take part in remote instruction on snow days. Lyons Township High School and School District 181 in Hinsdale both do so, according to their websites.
