ASU announces future campus improvements

ASU to present a new Capital Improvement Plan to the Arizona Board of Regents for approval. The Finance, Capital and Resources Committee of the ABOR will review the ASU Capital Improvement Plan for the 2023-2025 fiscal year. If a project is expected to be funded by gifts, the committee may ask what the current amount of funds received. After questions and discussion, the Finance, Capital and Resources Committee will vote to recommend that the plan be presented to the ABOR board, Vice President of Communications Sarah Harper described. The ABOR board will vote to approve or oppose the plan. The Capital Improvements Plan outlines what ASU has planned for future improvements on campus and other university owned property. The Research Building Tenant Improvements Project in Downtown, is projected to be included with the 2024-2025 items. The improvements will create a new laboratory and provide support space for ASU's research initiatives. Additionally, all campus classrooms will receive needed renovations such as: heating, ventilation and air condition systems, plumbing and electrical systems. Other items scheduled in the plan include: A newly constructed classroom building at the Tempe Campus A multi-level parking structure on the corner of Mill Avenue and Tenth Street A utility plant that will provide chilled water for the Tempe campus facilities Polytech Campus Student Union expansion A research building that will also hold classes at the Polytechnic Campus Tempe Campus music building renovation Per the Capital Projects Request for the 2023 fiscal year, signed by Michael Crow, just over $472 million is needed. A majority of those will come from bonds.
