Description
WOBURN, MA — Woburn gained multiple liquor licenses following the 2020 census, the state Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission told the city recently.
The city gained a package store license and two on-premise liquor licenses, the License Commission said at their Nov. 18 meeting, as first reported by the Daily Times Chronicle.
The increased licenses are based on the city's population growth over the last decade, with the population now topping 40,000. The increased quota was made official by the state commission on Oct. 5.

But the commissioners were in no hurry to award the new package store license.
At the suggestion of Chair Thomas Skeffington, the Woburn License Commission passed a motion to not accept any applications at this time, while they discuss how to move forward.
They already received a couple of applications, Skeffington noted, so the commission will keep the information of applicants on file and reach out when they open applications.
